Wifi disappeared after latest windows 10 update – Microsoft Community

Yesterday my laptop underwent the Windows 10 update I couldn’t stop it, it just happened automatically and after that all traces of wifi-drivers and the wifi-button were gone. I have searched online for solutions and tried literally everything, also downloaded drivers from the hp-support site, but I can’t get the wifi-reinstalled.

I found a Broadcom-driver in the hidden devices in the device-manager, and found a message there that it wasn’t working so un-installed it, downloaded the driver again but I can’t get it re-installed.

Please don’t say ‘switch on the wifi-button’ or whatever, because there is no wifi-button to be found anywhere anymore on my laptop, also in network-settngs I only see the ethernet- and bluetooth-options, no wifi-stuff anywhere.

It all just disappeared thanks to this stupid Windows-update! What is the product number of your device? Saturday night, before an automatic Windows-update started all of a sudden apparently it wasn’t the creators-update, as I now got a message that the creators-update will be offered in a few days.

No, wanted to, but because I was on vacation for 2 weeks and didn’t use the laptop, i got the notification that I couldn’t do a restore because too much time had passed since the last update or something like that It’s been a pleasure interacting with you and I hope you have a good day ahead.

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accepted Solution. I’ve gone through all the steps in the troubleshooting-wizard, except for the last thing which was reset to factory-settings I was too scared to do that, to be honest. Nothing helped! But, I have a weird laptop. Today I decided to bring it to a specialist for help, but decided to do one final restart for the millionth time. The laptop stalled with the restart just showed the HP-logo en that was it , so I did a ‘hard’ restart, pushed the power button for 10 secs and waited 10 secs and then pushed power button again.

Laptop restarted normally and guess what: there was my wifi-button, finally! I don’t understand it. Now I remember that on Sunday, when my wifi had dissappeared after the windows-update, the same thing had happened laptop had stalled twice that weekend during starting , so maybe there is a glitch somewhere in the starting process? One more question though: I still have to go through with the creators’update of Windows 10 in a few days I guess I got a notification that I will receive the update soon.
